Moondance Jam or bust...

Holy cow I think I heard crickets when I logged into my blog today.  It has been awhile.  We have been a little busy lately.  Lots of running.  We shipped the kids off to my parents on the 13th and Shane and I got to enjoy some good adult fun, relaxing and alone time last weekend at Moondance Jam.  We figured we haven't been there in 11 or 12 years.  It has grown tremendously since were there last.  We had a lot of fun, but managed to behave ourselves.  I loved the people watching.  You pretty much saw all sorts there.  My absolute favorite concert was the very last, Stone Temple Pilots on Saturday night.  I didn't get any semi-decent pictures to share.  Probably because I was rocking out too much.  lol  They were awesome.  We experienced all sorts of weather from cold and needed to turn the heat on at night, rainy, misty to hot and humid.  The hot days we just sat under the awning in the shade and enjoyed the breeze.  The worst was the morning we packed up to leave.  Even tho it wasn't super hot that morning the humidity was miserable.  Well here are a few from the weekend.  Excuse the crappy cell phone pictures.

Our first night there.  We just skipped the lawn chairs that night.

3 Doors Down or 3 Doors Back as my father in law called them.  lol  This was my second favorite concert.

Some of the fun campground contest participants.

A little Gene Simmons.  Even tho I am not a big KISS fan it was a fun concert.

Here are a few of the boys this week.  I was testing out a couple of my new lenses that I got over the last few weeks.  Here is Tyler looking not so happy.

This was with my 35mm 2.0

With the 85mm 1.8

Well I was all alone this weekend as I had to work.  Shane took the kids up to Thief River Fall to a family reunion on Saturday and then the kids are spending the week at their Grandma Robin and Grandpa Larry's.  Apparently Tyler wowed the crowd at the reunion with a little rendition of his armpit fart song and dance.  I am still waiting for Traci to upload it to facebook for me.  He makes me so proud.  lol  I enjoyed my alone time, but I am missing everyone now.  It will be nice to actually have Shane home this week while they are gone.  I am not sure if I could handle being by myself any longer.  Shane has finished up his project up in Grand Rapids and will be working around home this week.  Too bad it is a week the boys are gone.  Maybe we will have a "date" or two.  It will be weird having it quiet in the house for the week.  I already miss the boys, but I am sure the week will fly by quickly as it does every year that they go.  I started to tackle painting our guest room (aka Tyler's room that he not stayed in for about 6 months) from red to white.  I will have to see how Tyler reacts when he gets home.  Even tho we have talked about it he didn't want me to paint "his" room.  He kept telling me he would move back into it in a few days for months and never did.  My plan is to have it double as a studio.  It is just a pain to move everything around in my living room to do a photoshoot.  I was actually surprised how well the primer covered it.  But man, I hate painting old textured plaster walls.  I will be happy when that is done.  Well hopefully I won't let weeks go by without an update on life.

Photoshoot failure

I had all of these visions for a cool golden hour photoshoot with the boys, but it was an epic failure.  I love the hazy look, orange-yellow colors and sunflare that one can get shooting at sunset.  I guess what can one expect from a 3 and 5 year old.  I am all about lifestyle (candid) shots with kids, but it is nice to get a couple of them looking at the camera.  I will have to try again later with a little bit less expectations and maybe we will have better success.  Well lets just say Collin was probably being a typical 3 year old, maybe no nap was part of the culprit.  He is really getting in that "trying" stage.  Whatever you ask him to do he does the complete opposite and laughs.  He has been such a stinker the last month and I am thinking it is time to crack down.  I will take any advice.  Usually Collin is the cooperative one and a ham, while Tyler goofs around for pictures.  But it wasn't the case this time.  I told the boys that if they are good and cooperate that they get to pick out some candy at the store afterwards.  Tyler was even getting mad at Collin because of the threat of no treat for him.  There was one time that Tyler even yelled at Collin (as Collin kept leaning on Tyler instead of standing nice next to him) to just stand nice and take a one good picture so they can go pick their treat.   Lets just say Tyler got to pick out a teat and Collin went without.  I was surprised that Collin wasn't too upset.

There was an airplane flying over so the boys thought they would be airplanes too.

Here Tyler was getting upset with his brother.  Collin kept leaning into him.

Finally one dang shot of them looking at me and this is the ONLY one.

Once again little stinker laying on his brother instead of sitting next to him nice.

Well we are sitting but wouldn't look.  Just looking away and laughing.
